"One butterbeer please." came the voice that belonged to the man known to a few people as Derek Edwards. Derek had just finished addressing Madam Rosmerta who still was quite surprising had been still running the establishment as best as she could. Though just looking up and seeing her walk away to get his order, Derek could only chuckle to himself when he recalled a little tidbit from his past dwellings at Hogwarts. He recalled his best friend Jake had fancied Madam Rosmerta for a bit when he was about thirteen which Derek had remembered how Sam and Ryan, who were two other boys in their crew had enjoyed making fun of Jake for weeks when they realized the infatuation that Jake was in. That was great fun that them old Gryffindor boys had while growing up, which only made Derek wonder what his friends were doing these days since it had been such awhile since he last wrote or spoken to them. The only one he could recall that he recently seen was Sam when he attended Sam's wedding which was a great ceremony, but made him itch at the time to find the right woman and start a family. Though he knew he still had time before settling down.
With that last little moment of unsettling thoughts, Derek leaned back and reached over to the table behind him that was empty to nab the untouched Daily Prophet that sat there. The evening sky had slowly started to sink in while he looked out the window to watch the sky was filled with various colors that blended smoothly with each other. Looking back in front of him, Derek flipped the pages open to take a peek at the sports section. Mainly he just wanted some updates on the participants and such on the Magical games that were being held in Japan this year. Quickly he read over the small section about the few international games that were held while he had continued to scan over the paper. Derek had spotted at one particular picture that came with a fresh headline about Lola Rigby and Merlin Hayes being a couple. That picture itself had amused him just by the way it looked like Lola was repulsed by the man which he was surprised the Prophet would show such trash in their paper when he expected such a think to come from Witch weekly or some other paper. "Just shows how quickly people just want to hear the latest gossip around the world. Such a shame they ruin such a pretty woman's name by posting such filth about her." Derek mumbled more to himself before he whipped the pages back and started reading the latest headlines in the first page or two.
There didn't seem like a lot of great news about anything worthwhile to Derek, but he figured some news was better than none. With hardly any effort he scanned one article to another before he was interrupted with a small cough or least a fake cough. "Sorry." Derek spoke quickly before placing the paper down and away from his face while he looked up to see that his butterbeer had arrived. Reaching into his pockets he pulled out the right amount of coins and placed them in the hand of Rosmerta before he nodded her goodbye and placed his fingers around the glass mug and took a long sip of the buttery drink. The warmth of the drink had tingled the man's throat a little before he placed the mug down and smiled a satisfied smile. Looking around in hopes of finding someone that he knew and possible known, it became a shame that no one looked like anyone he could easily recall. Though lucky was on his side when he looked over once again and in the corner of his eye he spotted one old best friend in Ryan but it became disappointment when he saw that Ryan was just leaving with a woman who looked familiar. "Was that Kendra that he was with?" Derek could only say to himself while remembering the former Ravenclaw girl that Derek had actually dated once but broke it off with when she had cheated on him. Though people change and he was more surprised that those two would ever be together when he recalled how much Ryan hated Kendra with a passion when they were younger.
Shaking his head at the disappointment that he missed his one of his closer friends, Derek was more glad that least he didn't have to deal with the awkwardness that would of came from that encounter. Moving along with the early evening, the man once more placed his grip on his mug and took a long drink of the delicious butterbeer that flown gently down his throat. He didn't know of another drink that could bring so much memories into once head, yet always seemed to bring that tasty same taste with it over the years. Sighing just a small bit, Derek wasn't really sure where or what was next on the agenda but decided that sitting here and enjoying his drink was number one for now until something or someone had come and broken the small boredom that seemed to sink into the man's mind.
